Alastair Cook hails England character

Alastair Cook says that England showed great character to win the second Test over India in Mumbai.

England captain Alastair Cook has paid tribute to his side's character following their victory over India.

Having convincingly lost the first Test in Ahmedabad, the visitors stormed back to secure a win over the hosts in Mumbai.

The series now stands level at 1-1, and Cook is delighted with the way that his side avenged their loss in the first Test.

"It was a tough week at Ahmedabad but the character we've shown this week has been fantastic," said Cook.

"It was an important toss, but the way we bowled on the first day was fantastic, then Kevin took the game away from them. It was a great innings to watch from the other end.

"The way Swanny (Graeme Swann) and Monty [Panesar] bowled in the India second innings was a brilliant performance. We get amazing support everywhere we go and to see so many English fans here means a lot."

The third Test takes place in Kolkata on December 5.
