Tom Harrison named new England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive

The ECB announces that Tom Harrison will become its new chief executive from January.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has named Tom Harrison as its new chief executive.

Harrison, who is currently head of UK sales at IMG Media, will replace David Collier in the role from January 2015.

The 43-year-old previously enjoyed a first-class playing career with Derbyshire.

"Tom has come through a rigorous recruitment process which included us meeting with candidates in leadership positions from cricket, other sports and from outside of the industry," chairman Giles Clarke told the ECB's official website.

"He was the unanimous choice of the interview panel who were impressed with his energy, passion for the game and his positive, bold, creative and ambitious vision for the future of cricket in England and Wales."

Harrison previously worked for the ECB in various administrative roles from 2003 to 2006.
