Joe Root: 'We are fully prepared'

Joe Root insists that England are fully prepared for the challenge of facing Pakistan ahead of the first Test in Abu Dhabi.

Joe Root has claimed that there should be no concerns about England's preparations ahead of the first Test against Pakistan on Tuesday.

England have played just two warm-up matches since arriving in the UAE for the three-Test series, and former captain Michael Vaughan is one of the pundits who have raised doubts over whether they are prepared for the challenge.

However, Root is confident that the tourists are ready to be successful after losing 3-0 on their last visit in 2012.

"It's always hard to work out leading up to any series to try and work out exactly what you need to do; you never really know until you get going if you've done enough," Root told Sky Sports. "I think the thing with the squad of players that we've got [is] we're very mature when it comes to cricket; they know their own games pretty well.

"When you've got the conditions that we've got out here you've got to try to make the most of them whether it's in the game or in practice.

"We've had some brilliant surfaces out here in Dubai. Over the course of time that we've been here the lads have worked really hard. I feel like we're ready to go."

England will be without Steven Finn for the first Test due to a foot injury.
