Monty Panesar handed suspended one-match ban

England bowler Monty Panesar is given a suspended one-match ban for threatening and intimidating behaviour towards an opponent while playing for Essex.

Essex spinner Monty Panesar has been given a suspended one-match ban for threatening and intimidating behaviour towards an opponent.

The 31-year-old has received the suspended ban until the end of the 2014 season following two incidents in the County Championship match between Essex and Worcestershire earlier this month.

A statement on the ECB's official website read: "Monty Panesar has received a suspended ban after accepting that he breached ECB Directive 3.2 in that he did not conduct himself fairly and properly on the field.

"His actions [during the match against Worcestershire] were potentially threatening and intimidating towards a member of the opposition."

Panesar was named in the England squad for the winter Ashes series on Monday.
