Kevin Pietersen is reportedly expected to make a sensational return to the England squad with an announcement due to be made within the next 48 hours.
The 32-year-old was shunned from the national side after controversially sending 'derogatory' text messages regarding his teammates to members of the South Africa squad during the summer.
It is understood that the ECB selectors are willing to welcome Pietersen back into the squad if the batsman makes a fresh apology, according to BBC Sport.
Reports have also claimed that Pietersen could be included in the team to tour India next month after originally being left out of the squad for failing to come to an agreement with selectors following talks.
