Warwickshire bowler Boyd Rankin has expressed hope that his selection for England's Twenty20 squad is another step towards playing Test cricket.
The former Ireland seamer has been included in England's 14-man squad for the forthcoming series against New Zealand.
Rankin retired from cricket with Ireland last year to focus on his career with England.
He told BBC Sport: "It's really good to get in the squad, and hopefully I'll get a chance to play. It was great to be around the squad last time, just being around players you normally see on television.
"It was a really hard decision [to step down from Ireland] but the main thing for me is I wanted to play Test cricket and this is hopefully just another step on the way.
"Obviously I know [England one-day coach Ashley Giles] pretty well and he knows me pretty well. He knows what I can do and hopefully I can show the rest of the world what I can do as well."
The first T20 clash takes place at The Oval on Tuesday.
