Alec Stewart unhappy with ECB's treatment of Peter Moores

Former England captain Alec Stewart believes that the England and Wales Cricket Board have already lined up a replacement for ousted coach Peter Moores.

Ex-England captain Alec Stewart believes that the England and Wales Cricket Board "should hang their head in shame" over the treatment of Peter Moores.

The 52-year-old was dismissed as coach on Saturday afternoon, within hours of Andrew Strauss being appointed director of English cricket.

News of the change of personnel had initially surfaced on Friday, although Moores was not officially relieved of his duties until 24 hours later.

"The fact that all these leaks came out the day before the man was officially told - you've got to show a bit of respect to employees," Stewart told BBC Sport. "The ECB should hang their head in shame, the way it's been dealt with.

"There are a couple of names being bandied about, both Australians - Jason Gillespie, Justin Langer," he added. "They've either got someone lined up already, to have made this decision, or they're going to have to find someone pretty quick."

Assistant coach Paul Farbrace will take charge of England's two-Test series against New Zealand later this month.
