England beat India by three runs

Eoin Morgan hits 71 from 31 balls as England hold their nerve to beat India by three runs in a one-off Twenty20 international.

England held their nerve to beat India by three runs this evening as their one-off Twenty20 international went to the last ball.

Alex Hales hit 40 before Eoin Morgan made a timely return to form by smacking seven sixes and three boundaries in his 31-ball 71.

Ravi Bopara then hammered two boundaries and a six off consecutive balls as England finished on 180-7.

India needed five from two balls after MS Dhoni smashed Chris Woakes for a boundary over mid-off, but he bizarrely turned down another single.

Looking for a boundary off the last ball to tie the scores or a six to win, Dhoni could only manage a single as England won by three runs.
