The third one-day international between England and Ireland was abandoned after 31 overs due to heavy rain in Bristol.

England have concluded their one-day international series against Ireland with a rain-interrupted draw in Bristol.

With the opening contest of the three-match series being washed out, the two sides had been opening to close the series with a competitive fixture.

However, the game would last just 31 overs, with England making 280-4 before a heavy band of wind and rain arrived to bring about an early ending.

Before the bad weather set in, England produced fireworks with the bat, with the top four in the order scoring a collective total of 11 sixes.

England were astonishingly 87-1 off only seven overs, with Phil Salt departing for 61 from just 28 balls before Will Jacks was dismissed for 39 from 21.

By the standards of his teammates, Zak Crawley's 51 from 42 deliveries was pedestrian, but Ben Duckett stole the show with an unbeaten 107 from 78 balls.

Sam Hain made 17 off 18 before losing his wicket immediately before the stoppage, and Duckett was denied the chance to make an even bigger total.

Craig Young was by far the pick of the Ireland bowlers, taking 3-31 from his seven overs, while Theo van Woerkom collected the other wicket.

Attention now turns to England's 15-man World Cup squad who will play warm-up fixtures with India and Bangladesh before opening the defence of their trophy with a meeting with New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5.
