England lose their final tour match before the first Test match with New Zealand by three wickets.

BJ Watling scored an unbeaten 89 as a New Zealand XI condemned England to a three-wicket defeat in their final tour match.

England declared overnight to set New Zealand a total of 334 to win the match, and they began well as they reached the three-figure mark with the loss of just two wickets.

Tom Latham had looked to be on his way to his 50, but Graeme Swann dismissed him for 48, and Stuart Broad trapped Neil Broom in front of his stumps as New Zealand fell to 129-4.

The tourists looked in control, but Watling was beginning to look formidable at the crease, and he and Corey Anderson took New Zealand to within 100 of victory.

When the home side went seven down, England looked on course for the win but Watling, along with a rapid 28 from Neil Wagner, saw New Zealand home with eight balls to spare.
