Younis Khan hit 218 for Pakistan before England were reduced to 88-4 on day three of the final Test at The Oval.
Khan, who had already helped the tourists open up a 12-run lead overnight, struck his sixth Test double century as Pakistan reached 542-10.
Yasir Shah took three wickets in five overs, with England collapsing to end Saturday's session trailing by 126 runs.
Shah removed Alex Hales, James Vince and Joe Root inside 22 deliveries, following Wahab Riaz's impressive work to send Alastair Cook packing.
It was then over to Khan to pile on the misery - and indeed the runs for his side - as Pakistan took control of the Test to close in on a series draw.
