Australia set India 296 to win fourth one-day international

Australia set India a target of 296 runs to win the fourth ODI between the sides in Ranchi.

Australia have set India a modest target of 296 runs to win the fourth one-day international between the sides in Ranchi.

The tourists currently lead the seven-match series 2-1 following their four-wicket victory in Mohali on Saturday.

Australia lost the toss at the JSCA International Stadium Complex and were put into bat first. They went on to make 295-8 off their 50 overs.

George Bailey top-scored for the visitors with a knock of 98, while Glenn Maxwell added 92 runs to his side's tally.

However, there was disappointment at the top of the Aussie batting order as Aaron Finch (5), Phillip Hughes (11) and Shane Watson (14) failed to make an impact.

Elsewhere, James Faulkner (23 not out) and Mitchell Johnson (25) did their best to push Australia towards a more competitive score.

Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of 3-42, while Vinay Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin ended with two wickets apiece.
