ICC: DRS decision up to India

The new chief executive of the ICC, Dave Richardson, has announced that India will not be forced to fully apply the Decision Review System (DRS).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the only national board to object to the mandatory use of the DRS system, and will continue to decide its use prior to series after the ICC decided not to take the decision to a vote.

At the ICC annual conference, Richardson said: "The point is that the BCCI need to make that decision for themselves. It's never good to take anyone kicking and screaming to do anything.

"I don't think [the Executive Board's decision is] negative at all. We'll be seeing DRS used in the majority of series going forward and there would be no sense in forcing anything upon anybody."

The BCCI have said in the past that they will only embrace the technology when it is 100% error-free.
