Sri Lanka step in to replace West Indies

India will play Sri Lanka in five one-day internationals next month after West Indies withdrew from their tour of the Asian country.

Sri Lanka have reportedly stepped in to play India in five one-day internationals after West Indies announced their intentions to withdraw from their tour of India with immediate effect.

Earlier on Friday, the BCCI revealed that the West Indies had notified them that they were returning home after the conclusion of the fourth one-day international on Friday, with a T20 international and three Test matches being cancelled in the process.

However, according to Sky Sports News, Sri Lanka have been drafted in to face India in five limited-over fixtures ahead of the World Cup early next year.

The matches are scheduled to be played during the first two weeks of November.
