India equal biggest ever win with victory over Sri Lanka in second Test

Sri Lanka suffer their heaviest ever Test defeat as India win the second Test by an innings and 239 runs.

India equalled their biggest ever Test win by beating Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs in the second Test in Nagpur.

As well as the mammoth victory, India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest bowler to claim 300 Test wickets as he ended the day on 4-63.

Sri Lanka hit 205 in their first innings, but were unable to challenge India's 610 as the hosts bowled out their opponents for 166 on day four.

The top scorer for the tourists was Dinesh Chandimal, who hit a knock of 61, but it was not enough to prevent Sri Lanka from suffering their largest defeat in Test history.

Virat Kohli scored a double century for India, who now have an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series.
