England lose their second one-day international against India by 127 runs.

India have levelled up their one-day international series with England at one win apiece thanks to a 127-run victory in Kochi this afternoon.

Hosting India won the toss and their skipper MS Dhoni elected for his side to open the batting.

It proved to the correct decision by Dhoni, whose knock of 72 before he was caught by Joe Root helped his side overcome a poor start to post a total of 285-6 from their 50 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja's unbeaten contribution of 61 also proved to be a crucial performance for the home team.

England's reply stuttered early when Ian Bell's recent form with the bat eluded him as he was caught by Dhoni off the bowling of Shami Ahmed for just one run.

Captain Alastair Cook soon followed Bell when he was trapped lbw by Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 17 runs to his name.

Kevin Pietersen (42) and Root (36) offered some slight resistance, but the middle order and tail failed to build upon those contributions and the tourists were eventually dismissed for 158 from 36 overs.
