A calf injury means that New Zealand will be without Bruce Martin for the remainder of the their tour of England.

New Zealand's spin-bowler Bruce Martin will miss the rest of the tour of England through injury.

The 33-year-old picked up a calf complaint during the recent Test encounter at Lord's, which the Kiwis lost by 170 runs yesterday afternoon.

Having had the problem assessed by the medical team, it has been decided that the injury is too serious to risk ahead of Friday's second Test at Headingley.

The withdrawal of Martin has resulted in the selectors calling upon Daniel Vettori as a replacement. However, the country's most-capped Test cricketer has had injury problems of his own, having not featured in a five-day encounter since July last year because of an Achilles issue.

His fitness will now be assessed over the coming days.
