West Indies halt New Zealand progress

New Zealand batsman Tom Lathan is dismissed for 82 as the tourists reach 159-3 at tea in their second Test against the West Indies.

New Zealand have been reduced to 159-3 at tea on the opening day of their second Test against the West Indies at Port of Spain.

The tourists lost just a single wicket in the opening session, but Kane Williamson was dismissed shortly after play resumed in the afternoon.

The all-rounder, who scored a century in the first meeting between these two sides, misread a Shannon Gabriel delivery as he was gone for 42.

Tom Latham appeared to be closing in on a century as tea approached, but edged a Kemar Roach ball to Sulieman Benn at slip 18 runs short of the ton just a couple of overs before the interval.

Ross Taylor (12) and captain Brendam McCullum (4) were at the crease as the team headed into the pavilion for the break.
