Sunrisers Hyderabad and India batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out for at least the opening match for his side at this year's Indian Premier League.
Sunrisers coach Tom Moody was hopeful that Dhawan could return within a couple of weeks, but he could still miss further IPL fixtures.
"Shikhar Dhawan at this stage will not be available for the first game," ESPN quotes Moody as saying. "We are obviously working closely with the BCCI and the medical team with regard to his progress.
"We are hoping that within a couple of weeks he will be available to join the team."
Sunrisers' first game is against Pune Warriors on April 5.
