Jason Gillespie tips Perth Scorchers for Big Bash League glory

Former Australia bowler Jason Gillespie believes that Perth Scorchers will retain their Big Bash League title against Sydney Sixers.

Former Australia bowler Jason Gillespie has backed Perth Scorchers to beat Sydney Sixers in Wednesday's Big Bash League final.

The Scorchers were crowned champions last season after losing in both of their previous two final appearances.

Gillespie believes that Perth's current bowling lineup, which includes Nathan Coulter-Nile, Yasir Arafat and Brad Hogg, will make the difference at the Manuka Oval tomorrow.

"They can pretty much defend any total," he told Sky Sports News. "I think there have been seven times now in the Big Bash that they've defended scores of 153 or less. That's a really good record.

"They have the adaptability in their bowling lineup to cause a few headaches for the Sixers, who rely heavily on their top four to make the bulk of the runs. They've got a very good, balanced attack so in any conditions they'll find a way to get things to suit them."

Sydney Sixers won the inaugural Big Bash League in 2012, but they have failed to appear in the final since then.
