Shane Warne and Marlon Samuels have both been charged by Cricket Australia regarding their on-field altercation during Sunday's Big Bash match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.

Stars captain Warne squared-up to Samuels, accusing the West Indian batsman of deliberately blocking David Hussey's attempt to run.

Meanwhile, Samuels face charges of inappropriate or deliberate contact with other players and unbecoming behaviour.

The Renegades won the match by nine wickets, but Samuels was forced to depart early, retiring hurt after top-edging a Lasith Malinga bouncer into his grill in the 13th over.
