New Zealand slump to heavy first Test defeat against Pakistan

Pakistan beat New Zealand by 248 runs in their first Test in Abu Dhabi to ease into an early series lead.

Pakistan took little time on day five of their first Test against New Zealand to wrap up a 248-run victory in Abu Dhabi.

The Black Caps slumped to 174-8 at stumps on the penultimate day, meaning that Pakistan needed just one hour of today's session to claim the last two wickets and secure an emphatic win.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah spun through Mark Craig's defences in the second over of the day, although New Zealand managed to hold on for a little while longer.

Ish Sodhi's career best of 63 eventually came to an end when he was lbw on Imran Khan's bowling, which was confirmed following a review of the decision.

The second Test starts in Dubai on November 17.
