Pakistan thrash West Indies in first T20

Pakistan cruise to a dominant nine-wicket victory over West Indies to win the opening match of their T20 series.

Pakistan have taken a 1-0 lead in their T20 series with West Indies courtesy of a comfortable nine-wicket victory in Dubai this evening.

Pakistan stunned the tourists with a blistering start to the match, taking five wickets for just 22 runs to put themselves in complete control early on.

Dwayne Bravo was the only batsman to put up resistance for the Windies, eventually falling to an Umar Akmal catch off the bowling of Sohail Tanvir for 55.

Bravo's was the final wicket to fall, though, and his lack of support at the crease - with Jerome Taylor (21*) the only other player to reach double figures with the bat - saw the West Indies post a target of just 116 to win.

Imad Wasim was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 5-14, but he would not need to contribute with the bat too as Pakistan made short work of the chase.

Sharjeel Khan was the only wicket to fall as the hosts clinched the victory in a little more than 14 overs, with Khalid Latif (34*) and Babar Azam (55*) seeing them over the line.
