Pakistan fell 12 runs short of their victory target against Sri Lanka in their opening Asia Cup match this afternoon.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat, posting a total of 296 runs from their 50 overs, thanks largely to a knock of 102 from Lahiru Thirimanne.
In reply, Pakistan's top four of Sharjeel Khan (26), Ahmed Shehzad (28), Mohammad Hafeez (18) and Sohaib Maqsood (17) were removed relatively cheaply.
However, both Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal enhanced their nation's run-rate before they were caught on 73 and 74 respectively.
Those dismissals ultimately proved decisive, though, as Sri Lanka removed the Pakistan tail-order to wrap up the victory with seven balls to spare.
