Azhar Ali leads Pakstian reply

An unbeaten 47 from Azhar Ali helps Pakistan reach 117-4 at tea on the second day of the third Test match with Sri Lanka.

Pakistan have reached 117-4 at tea on the second day of the third Test match with Sri Lanka after a rain-interrupted session in Pallekele.

The tourists returned after lunch on 45-3, 233 runs behind Sri Lanka who had earlier been bowled out for 278, but Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq headed a positive response as they put on a fourth-wicket partnership of 46.

The dismissal of Shafiq (15), who was trapped in front of his stumps by Dhammika Prasad, put the pressure on Ali, but the number three took his score to 47 off 75 deliveries before rain brought an early end to the session.

Sarfraz Ahmed has added 14 from 19 balls, helping Pakistan reduce the deficit to 161 runs.
