Melbourne Renegades ease past Brisbane Heat

Melbourne Renegades ease to a 57-run victory over Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.

An excellent innings of 81 from Aaron Finch has helped Melbourne Renegrades record a 57-run win over Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.

The Australia one-day opener hit seven fours and three sixes as his side moved off the bottom of the standings with their first victory in three matches.

After losing Alex Doolan for 13, Finch put on a second-wicket stand of 108 with Jos Buttler, before the England player was dismissed by Daniel Vettori for 61.

Finch soon followed, but Tom Cooper and Ben Rohrer combined to record an unbeaten partnership of 52 to take the Renegades to a score of 210-3.

Heat opener Craig Kieswetter went for 10 as his side struggled to keep up with the required run-rate, and Brisbane still needed 114 runs off their final five overs.

In reality, the match was already over as a contest, but Ben Cutting hit an explosive knock of 40 before Heat were all out for 153 with four balls remaining.
