Vernon Philander has been booked to have a scan on his injured left hamstring as South Africa wait on the fitness of their seam bowler.
The 29-year-old was only able to bowl four overs in Sunday's 130-run loss to India in Melbourne, and he was kept off the field for the majority of the match as the Proteas suffered defeat in their second Pool B fixture.
South Africa will find out the full extent of the injury on Monday, but Philander is now a doubt for the game against the West Indies on Friday.
His injury cost South Africa as India reached 307-7, with the likes of Wayne Parnell and JP Duminy being forced to bowl more overs than captain AB de Villiers would have planned.
