South Africa headed into the tea break on day four of their opening Test match against England at the Kia Oval with a lead of 252 runs this afternoon.
Having put their nation in healthy position during the morning session, Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis returned to the crease after lunch and proceeded to score runs frequently.
Amla went on to score 311 runs, which is a South African record, while all-rounder Kallis made 182.
Following conversations with his coaches and team, skipper Graeme Smith then informed the umpires that his side have declared on 637-2.
England openers Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook will head to the crease following the conclusion of tea at 4pm.
