Captain Faf du Plessis top scored with a knock of 57 not out after Quinton de Kock (30) and Hashim Amla (48) got the Proteas off to a strong start.

Saeed Ajmal was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers, taking the wickets of De Kock and Amla before dismissing David Miller for four.

AB de Villiers (5) was caught by Nasir Jamshed off the bowling of Sohail Tanvir, before the latter claimed his second wicket of the innings when he bowled Henry Davids for a duck.
