South Africa set West Indies a target of 231 in their rain-affected ICC Champions Trophy match.

South Africa have set West Indies a target of 231 in their rain-affected ICC Champions Trophy match.

Play did not begin until 2.30pm due to poor weather in Cardiff and the match was reduced to 31 overs per side due to the delay.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl, but struggled to make an impact as Colin Ingram and Hashim Amla put on 80 for the opening wicket, until Amla was caught by Chris Gayle off the bowling of Marlon Samuels.

Ingram's innings came to an end on 73 when he lofted a Kieron Pollard delivery to Darren Bravo at deep mid-wicket.

AB de Villiers (37) was the next man to be dismissed after his powerful shot through the leg-side was caught superbly by a diving Bravo.

Francois du Plessis (35) and David Miller piled on the runs for the Proteas before the former was run out by Dwayne Bravo in the final over.

Miller was then caught out by Darren Sammy off the bowling of Bravo, having made 38 off just 29 balls. Ryan McLaren (7) and Robin Peterson (0) were at the crease as South Africa's innings finished on 230-6.
