Rangana Herath a doubt for Australia clash with finger injury

Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath is doubtful for next Sunday's World Cup game against Australia after injuring his finger in the win over England.

A finger injury has made Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath a doubt for the World Cup game against Australia next Sunday.

The 36-year-old suffered a cut to his spinning finger while attempting to take a return catch off Jos Buttler in the nine-wicket victory over England, and the problem is likely to have an impact on his bowling until the wound is fully healed.

"The doctor says he's out for 8-10 days, but we'll see how he heals up and then reassess," team manager Michael de Zoysa revealed to reporters after the game.

If Herath is ruled out of the meeting with the co-hosts, Sri Lanka are likely to call upon Sachithra Senanayake, who has not yet played a game at the World Cup.
