Sri Lanka end day three seven runs ahead of Pakistan

Sri Lanka end day three against Pakistan seven runs ahead of their hosts.

Sri Lanka have reached stumps on day three of the first Test match with Pakistan at Abu Dhabi on 186-4, which is a lead of seven runs.

Picking up their second innings just before lunch, 179 behind after Pakistan's 383, Sri Lanka's response started well as Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva put on 47 before the former was dismissed for 24 by Junaid Khan.

Their cautious progress continued after lunch, with the next man to go Kumar Sangakkara for just 55 an over after reaching a solid half-century.

Mahela Jayawardene went for a first-ball duck and just as Silva was beginning to look good for a century on the fourth day he fell on the last delivery of the third, caught behind off Junaid.

Sri Lanka will continue their second innings to try to build a lead that they are able to defend.
