Team Canada coach Ian Hughes has backed his country's mountain bikers to succeed at this summer's Commonwealth Games.
The Canadians are expected to be amongst the medals at the Cathkin Braes Mountain Bike Trails in Glasgow, with two-time World Cup champion Catharine Pendrel in particular a strong hope for the team.
Emily Batty, Remi Pelletier-Roy and Max Plaxton will also be vying for a spot on the podium, and Hughes, who coaches the bikers, believes that they have a very good chance of doing well.
"In terms of mountain biking we are going to have a treat because we have some of the best riders in the world that are here to compete for Team Canada," Hughes told reporters.
"In mountain biking we have four excellent athletes that are world class, top of the world. So we have our sights set pretty high for these Championships."
Canada finished fourth in the medal table four years ago in Delhi.
