The 2015 Giro D'Italia will start with three stages in Liguria, the first of which will be an 18km team time trial, it was announced today.
The opening stage will follow the Riviera dei Fiori cycle path that hugs the coast, finishing in the famous cycling city of San Remo, where the annual Milan-San Remo Classic finishes, won this year by Team Katusha's Alexander Kristoff.
The second stage ends with four 7.5km circuits of the port city of Genoa, and should suit the sprinters, while the third stage offers the general classification riders a chance to shine, ending with the short but sharp Bassia climb.
Next year's race will begin on May 9 and end on May 31 but the rest of the programme is yet to be confirmed.
