British Cycling's Shane Sutton questions riders' "hunger"

British Cycling's Shane Sutton questions whether some of the riders still have the "hunger" to succeed.

British Cycling technical director Shane Sutton has said that some of the riders need to ask themselves if they are still "hungry" for success.

Sprint cyclists, including Jason Kenny and Jess Varnish, failed to get near the podium at the Track World Championships in Paris, where the team won three silver medals overall.

"I think there are certain riders who probably just need to look at their hunger a little bit," The Telegraph quotes Sutton as saying.

"If anything's going to make them hungry it's the way they performed here. Just one or two riders in the group, who need to [ask], 'has the journey come to an end for them or are they still hungry for it?'"

At the London 2012 Olympics, Britain won seven medals on the track.
