Vincenzo Nibali has extended his lead over Cadel Evans at the Giro d'Italia with a second-placed finish in stage 14.
The Italian now has a one-minute, 26-second advantage on his Australian counterpart after finishing behind compatriot Mauro Santambrogio in adverse weather.
Evans lost 33 seconds to his rival as he came in sixth, three seconds behind Rigoberto Uran, who remains third in the overall standings.
However, Santambrogio's win has taken him to within one second of the Colombian.
