Chris Dobey has recorded a 11-7 victory over Rob Cross to win the Masters, securing his first televised title.
With the Premier League wildcards being revealed on Monday, a number of players were attempting to lift the trophy in Milton Keynes in order to put themselves in the mix.
Dobey, the world number 21, knew that only a win would do if he was to come into contention, and that added pressure potentially played a part in what turned out to be an average final with regards to averages.
Nevertheless, the North East thrower established an early 2-0 advantage and never trailed throughout the contest as he claimed the biggest win of his career.

The final caught fire in the 14th leg, Dobey hitting a 100 checkout with two double 20s to move 9-5 ahead, but Cross responded with a 144 finish in the 16th leg to get back to 9-7.
However, Dobey held his nerve to move one leg away from the title, and then proceeded to miss the bull for a 170 checkout for the match.
That let Cross back in, but after he remarkably missed two big numbers trying to set up a shot at tops, Dobey returned to hit double 16 with his last dart to seal the triumph.
Dobey, who defeated world champion Michael Smith in the semi-finals, averaged 94.05, with a below-par Cross only posting a 90.2 with 17 missed attempts at double.
