Gary Anderson has edged into the Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finals with a 10-9 victory over Danny Noppert.
The PDC number two is looking for a big performance in Wolverhampton after early exits at the European Championship and World Series of Darts but he held his nerve to get past Noppert, who is ranked at number three in the BDO.
Noppert hit six doubles from six attempts during the first half of the contest but it was not enough to deny Anderson, who has not reached the final of this event since 2011.
Anderson will now face Raymond van Barneveld after the 2012 champion overcome the challenge of Glen Durrant by a 10-7 scoreline.
James Wade made light work of Benito van de Pas as he ran out a 10-2 winner, but it was a different story in a dramatic clash between Chris Dobey and Jamie Hughes.
Dobey established a 9-5 advantage before squandering over half-a-dozen darts at a double to win the match and that allowed Hughes to fight back to 9-9.
However, in the deciding leg, Hughes missed five darts of his own before Dobey finished 204 in four darts to earn a memorable triumph in just his second televised tournament.
