Stephen Bunting beats Alan Norris in Lakeside final

Stephen Bunting is the 2014 BDO world champion after he recorded a 7-4 victory over Alan Norris in Sunday's final.

Stephen Bunting has recorded a 7-4 win over Alan Norris to become the 2014 Lakeside world champion.

The number one seed, who has dominated the BDO circuit throughout 2013, was pushed all the way by Norris before eventually hitting double 16 to clinch his first world title.

Norris started the stronger of the two players, but Bunting recovered with half-a-dozen maximums to move into a 2-1 advantage.

The two finalists reached the interval at 3-3, with 16 180s being shared between the pair, but the Liverpudlian returned after the break to takes three sets in a row to move one away from victory.

Norris, however, showed no signs of gifting the 28-year-old the trophy as a 140 checkout reduced the score to 6-4 in Bunting's favour, but the world number one kept his composure to secure his maiden world crown in the 11th set.
