Dave Chisnall has progressed through to the second round of the World Championship with a 3-0 victory over Rowby-John Rodriguez.
The scoreline does not tell the whole story, with two of the sets going to a deciding leg and Rodriguez hitting a 170 checkout, but Chisnall deserved his win after finishing the match with an average of 99.37.
The night began with Ronny Huybrechts outlasting Dean Winstanley in an epic clash that only ended when Huybrechts hit checkouts of 164 and 104 to win the final set 6-4.
Winstanley started strongly but Huybrechts grew into the match before getting himself into a winning position, only to see three match darts go begging in the final set.
However, at 4-4, he regained his composure to take out 164 with Winstanley left on 40, before earning his place in the last 32 with his second successive three-figure outshot.
Wes Newton produced a below-par display against Cristo Reyes, who beat him in the first round last year, but still managed to record a 3-1 victory.
Reyes showed flashes of brilliance but an average of just under 78 was good enough for Newton to set up a second-round clash with James Wade.
In the final match of the evening, Terry Jenkins overturned a one-set deficit to see off American Darin Young by a 3-1 scoreline.
