Robbie Green grabs last-16 place at Grand Slam of Darts

Robbie Green reaches the second round of the Grand Slam of Darts after hitting a 170 checkout in the deciding leg of his match with Vincent van der Voort.

Robbie Green has earned a place in the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts with a dramatic 5-4 triumph over Vincent van der Voort.

The Liverpudlian, who is making his debut at the event, let slip a 4-1 lead before hitting a 170 checkout in the final leg to book a second-round date with Dave Chisnall.

Chisnall was easily defeated by Adrian Lewis but the former Lakeside runner-up had already confirmed his spot for the knockout stages with two wins over the weekend.

Keegan Brown came out on top in the battle of the World Youth finalists as he beat Rowby-John Rodriguez 5-3 to earn a showdown with Raymond van Barneveld.

The Dutchman, who won the competition in 2012, came back from 2-0 down to get the better of Robert Thornton by a 5-2 scoreline.

World number one Michael van Gerwen made sure of first place in Group A with a 5-0 whitewash of Jan Dekker to set up a match with Terry Jenkins.

Jenkins comfortably came through his winner-takes-all contest with Ronny Huybrechts to continue his recent good form on the PDC Tour.

The other second-round tie in the top half of the draw with be contested between last year's Lakeside runner-up Alan Norris and Belgian thrower Kim Huybrechts.

Norris qualifies despite falling to a 5-3 defeat to Scott Waites, while Huybrechts comfortably overcame the challenge of Darren Webster.
