Peter Wright sees off Phil Taylor to reach Grand Slam of Darts semi-finals

Peter Wright reaches the Grand Slam of Darts semi-finals with a 16-10 victory over Phil Taylor.

Peter Wright has recorded a 16-10 victory over Phil Taylor to reach the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts.

The world number five stormed into a 5-0 lead and although Taylor reduced the deficit to 6-4, he then watched on as Wright missed double 12 for a nine-darter before taking the 11th leg.

Taylor got back to 8-7 but Wright's finishing was relentless as he took out checkouts of 152 and 101 in successive legs to move closer to a famous triumph.

Six-time winner Taylor hit a 143 finish of his own but Wright responded with 141 and 121 checkouts as he wrapped up one of the victories of his career and registered 10 180s in the process.

Wright will play Michael van Gerwen in the last four after the world number one eased to a 16-3 success over Brendan Dolan.

The defending champion was below his best against the Northern Irishman but after winning 10 of the opening 11 legs, he was able to make it through to the final day of the tournament without breaking sweat.
