Victoria Vincent, the youngest member of England's diving squad at the Commonwealth Games, has admitted that she was "nervous" during her first outing in Edinburgh this morning, but is also "excited" to be competing on the big stage.
At just 13, Vincent is much younger than the other competitors at the Royal Commonwealth Pool, but registered the eighth-best score of this morning's 10m platform preliminaries.
"I was obviously a bit nervous to start off with, but really excited as well because this is my first big international competition," she told reporters.
"It's just been so fun and the crowd has been amazing. It was definitely good having elder people supporting me to help me get through the competition."
Vincent was almost unable to go to Scotland after it was initially ruled that she was too young to compete, but Team England appealed against the FINA ruling as their guidelines do not explicitly mention the Commonwealth Games and exceptions have been made before.
