The new season of American Horror Story will be set in New York City, it is revealed.

The 11th instalment of American Horror Story will be set in New York City, it has been revealed.

Details of the new season of the horror anthology series have hitherto been scarce, although FX's official announcement - issued on Thursday - offered no synopsis or plot details.

The network confirmed that the cast will feature returning stars Zachary Quinto, Patti LuPone, Billie Lourd, Denis O'Hare, Leslie Grossman, Dot-Marie Jones, Isaac Powell and Sandra Bernhard, while Russell Tovey will make his franchise debut.

Former Desperate Housewives star Charlie Carver will also be making his debut and has also co-written multiple episodes of the new season, which will run to 10 episodes.

FX will air two episodes back-to-back every week for five weeks, starting on Wednesday, October 19.

In the UK, AWS: NYC will be made available on Disney+, although whether it will be a next-day release or not has yet to be confirmed.
