Channel 4 announces plans to broadcast the Presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris live.

Channel 4 has announced plans to broadcast next week's hotly-anticipated TV debate between Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

The event marks the first time that the pair have gone head-to-head since Joe Biden dropped out of the race in July following a disastrous debate performance against Trump the month prior.

C4's coverage, anchored by Matt Frei, will begin at 1.30am in the early hours of Wednesday morning and include a full simulcast of the ABC debate plus reaction from both parties.

Louisa Compton, C4's head of news, said: "The 2024 US election is already proving to be one of the most divisive and pivotal elections in recent history and we are delighted that the Channel 4 audience has the opportunity to watch the crucial Presidential debate live and in full.

"This deal with ABC demonstrates, yet again, our commitment to delivering unparalleled coverage of global events."

A press release says that C4 will be "the only UK broadcaster to air live coverage" of the debate, although Sky News appears to have a simulcast of the debate in its schedule, while CNN International and Bloomberg will also be broadcasting it live to UK viewers.
