Sky increases contract length from 18 months to two years

Sky increases its minimum contract length from 18 months to two years across all of its products.

Sky has implemented a new policy of signing customers to two-year contracts effective immediately.

The company has had a long-standing policy of offering up 18-month contracts to new customers, as well as existing subscribers looking to renew, but has now moved to lock customers in for longer.

The move applies across all products - including Sky Broadband, Sky Q, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Mobile - in addition to the NOW service.

A spokesperson told Media Mole: "As from Thursday 20th June, all Sky Broadband, TV, Triple Play and NOW contracts will be changing from 18 months to 24 months.

"This is to align with the wider broadband market and to continue offering our customers brilliant value, improved technology and deeper pricing."

While Sky is now 24 months as standard, as is EE TV, competitor Virgin Media remains at 18 months for the time being.
