Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren Plant says that he hopes Jacob will have a new storyline soon.

Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren Plant has said that he hopes his character Jacob will get another big storyline soon.

The 20-year-old has been part of the soap since 2010 - and was involved in a controversial plot a few years ago that saw him groomed by Maya Stepney, the then-girlfriend of his dad David (Matthew Wolfenden).

In recent months Jacob has barely been seen on screen, with the explanation being that he has begun his studies to become a doctor, but Plant expects something meatier in the near future.

"Jacob's been pretty quiet – but you wouldn't want scenes of him revising, would you?" he told Inside Soap.

"I'm hoping it'll pick up soon because I miss work when I'm not there.

"I get lazy, to be honest. I need a purpose for the day to get up. I'm happier when I'm at work."

Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1.
