Channel 4 is reportedly on the brink of announcing a new deal for future series of The Great British Bake Off.

Channel 4 is reportedly close to agreeing a new deal for future series of The Great British Bake Off.

The broadcaster poached the popular show from the BBC in 2017 in an initial three-year deal, which was subsequently extended until the end of this year.

Speculation had been rife that a streamer with deep pockets such as Netflix or Amazon could take the rights from 2025, but according to The Sun, Channel 4 is about to agree a new extension with production company Love Productions.

A source told the newspaper: "Love Productions, which makes Bake Off, really wants to make the show as accessible as possible for the army of devotees who've loyally supported them for the past 14 years.

"So despite rumours of multi-million pound deals with streamers, they've decided to stick with Channel 4 where the whole nation can tune in to what's now considered a national treasure.

"C4 and Love Productions are now hammering out the details, but they're working on the basis it will stay put."

The deal would also cover spinoff shows Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Celebrity Bake Off, Junior Bake Off and Bake Off: The Professionals.
