A fan-favourite character is killed off abruptly in shock scenes on Hollyoaks.

Lily Best has become the latest Hollyoaks cast member to leave the soap as her character Lizzie Chen-Williams was killed off in shock scenes.

In tonight's E4 episode - first shown on Channel 4 streaming yesterday - Lizzie danced with her adoptive dad Dave (Dominic Power) at the reception for his wedding to Cindy (Stephanie Waring) before collapsing in his arms.

Having taken some dodgy pills distributed by Dilly (Emma Johnsey-Smith), Lizzie's system reacted badly and she was soon declared dead, leaving Dave devastated.

The character had become a fan-favourite in her two-and-a-half years in the village and her death was made all the more shocking after a recent storyline revealed that she had given up a daughter for adoption 10 years prior.

Hollyoaks is in the midst of a huge cast overhaul, with around 20 actors either due to leave or having already left following the announcement that the soap will be reduced to three episodes a week from September.

Previously confirmed for the exit in 2024 are Owen Warner (Romeo), Waring (Cindy), Jamie Lomas (Warren), Jamelia (Sharon), Ross Adams (Scott), Theo Graham (Hunter) and Jonas Khan (Zain).
