Andrew Garfield has insisted that he has no future plans to reprise the role of Spider-Man following his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The epic multiverse movie saw Tom Holland's Spidey assisted by previous incarnations played by Garfield and Tobey Maguire - in a plot that has drawn almost-universal praise from critics and fans alike.

The success of Garfield and Maguire's returns has even led to speculation that the former could finally appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 - a film that was tentatively in the works before the franchise was rebooted with Holland.

Before No Way Home was released, Garfield gave multiple interviews denying that he was in the film and he now says that although his credibility is in doubt, he has no future plans involving Spider-Man.

Talking to Variety at last night's SAG Awards, he insisted: "No plans, that's the truth. Everyone's gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life. I'm the boy who cried wolf."

Released just before Christmas, Spider-Man: No Way Home ranks as the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time, with analysts predicting that it could have surpassed Titanic to rank third in the all-time list had it been granted a release in China.
